Plan B (Ipoh)

If you recognize this cafe in Kuala Lumpur, this is the Ipoh outlet. Plan B is also in:

Plan B is under The BIG Group which also has Ben’s, Ben’s General Food Store, Ben’s Bake Shop, Ben’s Chicken Shop, Ben’s BBQ, Plan B Roasters, Benbino, and BESPOKE by Ben’s under it’s umbrella. You can learn more about The Big Group here.

Plan B is an Asian fusion restaurant. The interior has a very industrial and modern feel.

As it was already in the afternoon, we ordered some light food and drinks to chill after a short walk through Concubine Lane and a long walk from Taman Jubilee.

We had some coffee, latte (hot), watermelon lychee frosty, classic chocolate brownie, and plain fries.

At the table, there was a QR code to scan to open the menu, create your order, and send to the kitchen.

Jo’s Bakery @ Tropicana Avenue

Recently, I attended a private function at Jo’s Bakery.

Park in Tropicana Avenue’s multi-storey or basement parking, and then walk over to Jo’s Bakery on the ground floor.

Jo’s Bakery is not hard to miss and easy to spot (bakery) in Tropicana Avenue. It is located just next to Village Grocer.

After your grocery shopping at Village Grocer or meals at one of the restaurants in Tropicana Avenue, you can stroll over to Jo’s Bakery.

Jo’s Bakery has a beautiful and bright loft layout. It is very inviting with it’s floor-to-ceiling glass entrance.

Sit at the high table to enjoy the view of shoppers walking out of Village Grocer and strangers passing by. Lounge on their cozy chairs, and enjoy a scone and a cup of hot tea.

For more privacy, you’re welcome to sit upstairs in their loft. Sit at the high table or comfortably lean against the wall on the bench.

Jo’s Bakery Menu

They’re all day meals run from 8.00 AM to 8.00 PM.

Indulge in their Cauliflower Rice with smoked salmon, fried egg, and salad or Mushroom Spaghetti.

Fluff it Out at Fluffed Cafe and Dessert Bar

Looking for a hip cafe to hang out and chat over desserts? Look no further than Fluffed Cafe & Dessert Bar in Taman Paramount, Petaling Jaya.

How to Get to Fluffed

Fluffed Cafe is not hard to miss as it’s located along the row of shops directly facing the main road – Jalan 20/7.

It is situated in a strategic location. As Paramount Garden and Sea Park are mature neighbourhoods; Fluffed Cafe caters well to the elderlies who have sweet tooth and the young adults looking for their next dessert.

You can park in the inner lane, along the main road, or behind the shops around the housing area.

After lunch or dinner at Ribs King, Washoku Japanese Restaurant, or Restaurant New Seaview, you can walk over to Fluffed Cafe for dessert. Better be there early as usually later afternoons or after 8.00pm is when the crowds line up to enter the cafe.

Check out their menu below

I can’t believe another 365+ days have so quickly passed… We’re now in the final minutes of 2016! Before venturing into 2017, let’s do a year in review for 2016. I’ve visited many new cafes and restaurants, and revisited many of those “new” cafes and restaurants. I’ve cafe hopped from cafe to cafe, and dined at various restaurants.

These are the places I’ve eaten and drank in 2016.

Wholesome experience. The slideshow below is a summary and snapshot of the foods I ate in the UK. Happy sliding!

LAMBorghini

It’s been awhile since I blogged about something edible. Sheepishly, I did not know what to blog about. I had a tough time figuring out what to blog about. It took some time to digest this meaty information and details. I believe it’s going to be juicy and chewy.

Subject to author’s tastebuds

1. 6 2 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak

Going by its name, this restaurant specialises in grills and nasi lemaks. Nonetheless, its lamb chop is worth taking note. 6 2 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak is a corner lot in Aman Suria. It is directly opposite Lotus Curry House.

Despite facing stiff competition from other nearby Western food restaurants – Betty’s Midwest Restaurant, Kalamazoo Restaurant & Cafe and the newly opened Patty & Pie – 6 2 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak holds its own.

In addition to its lamb chop, its Apple Crumble dessert is also a MUST TRY. A mixture of soft and warm apple crumble and a cold vanilla ice cream crumbling in your mouth is something to salivate about. The stomach is at ease after the heavy digestion of the lamb chop.

2. Western Food, Restaurant Hup Soon

Unlike 6 2 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak, our second “lamb chop” spot is a hawker stall in a restaurant. The Western Food stall is situated IN Restaurant Hup Soon. Like 6 2 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak, Restaurant Hup Soon is a corner lot along Jalan SS3/29. The restaurant is located next to a Shell petrol station.

Going by its name – “Western Food” – this hawker stall specialises in all things, western food: fish & chips, chicken chop, lamb chop, etc.

In addition to its variety of tasty main courses, it also serves a scrumptious lamb stew soup. The lamb is so soft that when bitten, the meat tears apart slowly and gently. Different from the usual mushroom soups, this lamb stew soup brings a whiff of freshness.

3. Hanz Harvest & Cafe

Hanz is located in Damansara Jaya near KDU University College. It is a small cafe in the same row as Choy Kee Restaurant and Yu Yiee Restaurant, which are popular makan places frequented by KDU students.

The recommended dish is the lamb chop. Unlike other cafes (in mind), you are served NOT 1 but 2 lamb chops. Pretty generous, I would say.

Lamb Chop with Apple Mint sauce

In addition to the portion served, Hanz is also unique for its choice of sauce. You have the option of either Rosemary (below) or Apple mint (above) sauce. This is different from the usual mushroom, BBQ, and black pepper sauces. As you can see, even the chips served are different. Instead of serving french fries like other restaurants, Hanz replaces them with wedges.

Chicken Chop with Rosemary sauce

Given that the lamb chop is a set meal, soup is also included in the set. You have a choice of either pumpkin or mushroom soup. Especially the mushroom soup, the soup served is not what we would commonly expect – (Campbell) mushroom soup – the canned soup. Instead, the mushroom soup is the authentic and original wild mushroom soup.

Last but not least; save the best for the last

In conclusion, Hanz sets itself apart from 6 2 10 and the Western Food stall in terms of the main course. 6 2 10’s Apple Crumble is a MUST TRY dessert and the Western Food stall has scrumptious lamb stew soup.

If you have any recommendation(s), do leave them in the comments section below.
