We continued our journey for the day. After breakfast at Restoran Number One Mei Sik Wan, we walked down to Khoo Eng Chee.
Pusat Kuih & Kek Khoo Eng Chee
The kuihs were freshly made on the spot. There’s Angku Pau, Fatt Gou’ (发糕), Nyonya Kuih, Kuih Koci, Pulut Udang, etc.

Continuing our journey for the day, our van driver chauffeured us from Restaurant Kam Wan Aneka Selera to Tong Sui Kai.
Tong Sui Kai
It is literally a stretch of roadside stalls under a long shack along Jalan Carrey. Eat by the road with cars driving by and looking for parking.
In a sense, it’s like a hawker centre, but it’s not like your typical hawker centre. You can only sit at the stall area where you ordered. No cross sitting allowed.
The tables are number coded to the corresponding stalls. The table that we sat at, focused on desserts and snacks.
We had ice kacang, ching poh leong, and other snacks for supper.

Continuing from our journey, the van took us from HOGA Gaharu Tea Valley Gopeng to the restaurant in Ipoh Garden. It was a 30 kilometer or about 35 minutes ride back to Ipoh town.
Restaurant Kam Wan Aneka Selera
The variety of food choices and the decoration of some stalls were impressive.
There are stalls that sell popiah, chicken wings, chicken rice, chee cheong fun, pan mee, fried oysters, rojak, indian food, ramen, satay, etc.
We had pan mee, fried oysters, and popiah for dinner.

Looking for a scenic spot to visit just outside of Ipoh? Just 6 km or about 12 minutes drive from Ipoh town is Qing Xin Ling Leisure & Cultural Village, which is just behind Mirror Lake Ipoh.
It is a natural area combining culture and art displays with recreational activities such as hiking, biking, and more.

Qing Xin Ling Leisure & Cultural Village
Entry into the village is not free and comes with a fee. You can buy the entrance pass at the entrance. Refer to the image below for the entrance pass rates.
After buying the tickets, you’ve full access to the village. So, here are 6 reasons why Qing Xin Ling was and is worth the visit.
1. Enjoy animals around
There are many tortoises and fishes in the ponds. There are many geese and ducklings around the small lakes too. You can feed and take photos of the animals.
2. Ride a free trishaw
Yes, you read that right! It is free to cycle and ride the trishaw(s).
There are bicycles and trishaws placed around, which you can ride as a couple or in a group of 4 around the village. Enjoy views of the lake, mountain, and cultural buildings while on the ride.
3. Snap insta lake photos
The lake with the mountain as the backdrop, makes for good instagram shots. You may also want to take panoramic shots of the lake from the cultural houses around the lake.
4. Snap more insta photos
There are lots of signs, cultural artifacts, antique cars, and instagrammable props which you can snap photos of and with.
5. Visit cultural houses
There are olden day kampung houses of the three main races in Malaysia. Lots of antiques and vintage collections in the small houses.
6. Walk up Memory Lane
Memory lane is an upper area you can walk up to which is quite a nice and shady walk through a narrow walkway slightly uphill. On the lower side you will find different cultures ornaments and on the upper part you need to hike to see more antique ornaments.
All in all, the whole self-tour lasted about an hour.

GoChin Tambun Pomelo Agro Farm
At the front of the farm is the shop selling pomelos and fruits. You’ll notice the entrance to the shop and farm with the GBBS Gerai Buah Buahan Segar signboard.
Entrance to the farm is free. You can just walk-in and do a self-tour of the farm. The paths in the farm are properly routed and easy to follow.
Pomelos can be are easily spotted on trees. Towards the end of the farm, you can also see some guavas growing.
You can buy some pomelos from the shop to eat at home or at the shop itself. We bought 1 pomelo and shared among ourselves.

Just down the road from TUCK KEE RESTAURANT SDN BHD is Restoran Choong Kee “Pokok Besar”. This is Ipoh’s most famous Yong Tau Fu spot.

Continuin with our journey for the day, the van took 15 of us from Kampung Kacang Puteh to Pokok Besar.
Pokok Besar
The main stall at the front of the restaurant is the yong tau fu stall. Besides the yong tau fu stall, there are also other stalls that sell popiah, oyster omelette, wan tan mee, rojak, chee cheong fun, and pan mee.
There was a queue for the yong tau fu. We queued and by the time it was our turn, we were given a basket. There were a wide variety of yong tau fus. They had the fried thin beancurd, fried beancurd, fish cake, fried turnip, fish ball, fried egg with fish paste, wan tan, tau fu pok, long bean, eggplant, bitter gourd, chili, etc.
The yong tau fus, you can eat with different noodles and soup base. For the soup base, you can choose from either clear soup, assam laksa, or curry soup base.

Just 4 km or 9 minutes drive from Taman Jubilee to Buntong is the birthplace of Kampung Kacang Puteh in Ipoh.
Kampung Kacang Puteh (also known as Kampung Kacang Putih) is famed for its traditional Indian snacks: nuts, murukku, tapioca chips, other types of cookies, etc. The Indian snacks here are directly from the manufacturers. Hence, the snacks are fresher, more traditional, and supposedly the cheapest in Malaysia. Furthermore, the business owners in Kacang Puteh are directly involved in the production to maintain quality and traditional values.

Getting to Kampung Kacang Puteh is fairly simple, either you take a taxi or Grab.

Kampung Kacang Puteh
The entrance to the kampung (village) is easily recognisable by the arch with the greetings TERIMA KASIH KAMPUNG KACANG PUTEH.
We stopped at the first cross junction where 3 popular kacang puteh shops are located. There’s CTS Kacang Puteh Sdn Bhd which is easily recognisable by it’s green exterior. Then there’s D.N.S FOOD which is directly opposite CTS. Then, Enak & Rangup is directly opposite D.N.S.
