Vary Pasta in Damansara Jaya

Itโ€™s not only Very Pasta, but itโ€™s Vary Pasta.

Often, we would pass by this place but never ventured inside. Once, we even stopped outside to browse the menu, but our stomachs were craving for something Asian.

Today, we finally had lunch at Vary Pasta in Damansara Jaya

How to get to Vary Pasta

Vary Pasta is quietly hidden at the corner along Jalan SS 22/23. If you missed it, itโ€™s just next to Five Fingers | Vegetarian Cafe Damansara Jaya and few doors down from Restaurant Kampung Seafood Parit Jawa.

If youโ€™re driving, you can park on the street parking around or in Atria Shopping Gallery. Thereโ€™s ample parking space in the basement and upper levels of the mall.

Alternatively, you can always Grab to the East Entrance of Atria and then walk up the road to Vary Pasta.

Vary Pasta

From the name, it sounds very much like an Italian restaurant.

Once inside, the decor gives off a very mid-Western and Italian vibe. Like you see in the movies, it has a feeling of nostalgia and oldies vibe.

Menu and Food

Looking at the menu, theyโ€™ve an interesting and unique food recommendations. This is not your usual Western food restaurant.

If youโ€™re craving for meat, thereโ€™s Varyโ€™s Recommendation: mix sausage platter, pork gammon steak, roasted pork knuckle, and pork meat loaf. If you want some seafood to go with your meat, thereโ€™s the mix grilled platter (chicken, pork, lamb, sausage, prawns, and mussel).

If you want something European, theyโ€™ve German pork sausages and Paella. The German pork sausages are cooked and served in different styles. The Paella, you can have it with chicken mushroom, pork mushroom, or seafood.

And as the name suggests, they also have pasta in various sauces and cooked in variety of styles. The pastas are cooked in garlic sauce, tomato sauce, or creamy and cheesy sauce. If you donโ€™t want to eat with meat, thereโ€™s also vegetarian pasta.

Instead, we chose our food from the set lunch menu. After choosing the main dish, you can choose the sides and drinks. The side is either soup of the day or salad. The drink is either ice lemon tea or tea (hot or cold).

That day, the soup of the day was potato soup.

We had grilled chicken chop served with spaghetti and fries, and pan-seared salmon fillet with butter rice.

Western food at Soru Station Kota Damansara

Deep in the corner of the Sunway Damansara area is a Western food restaurant – Soru Station Kota Damansara in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.

Soru Station Kota Damansara is one of the few branches in Klang Valley. There are also Soru Station Shah Alam, Soru Station Sungai Besi, Soru Station Wangsa Maju, and Soru Station Bangi.

Soru Station Kota Damansara only operates from Tuesday to Sunday, 5 PM until midnight.

If youโ€™re driving to the restaurant, there is ample parking around.

Since itโ€™s a corner shop lot, thereโ€™re lots of tables and chairs on the pavements around outside. You can also sit inside the restaurant.

Order Process

We sat inside the restaurant. On the table, thereโ€™s a QR code which you can scan to browse the menu and order online.

Naturally, everyone scanned the QR code. Instead of a shared bill through the code, each phone that scanned was given a bill, individually. Basically, you scan, you pay for your own orders made only.

You can choose to pay at the counter, with credit card, through ewallet, or do online banking.

If you did not pay at the counter but online, make sure to check your order status that it goes from created to submitted to accepted. Accepted means that the kitchen, not the counter, has confirmed receipt of your order and your order is in process.

Online Menu and Dining

True to itโ€™s tagline – Eat big, Eat cheap – you get to eat cheap western food and iced float drinks Penang Heritage style. Grill platters, spaghettis, and burgers were going for around RM10 per plate.

We had the mini platter, mixgrill chicken, mixgrill lamb, and tower honey dew.

The Mini Platter (above) at RM29.90 had grilled lamb, chicken parmigiana, spaghetti bolognese, fries, cheezy wedges, black pepper sauce, and creamy mushroom sauce.

The Mixgrill Chicken (above) at RM14.90 had grilled chicken, spaghetti, fries, black pepper sauce, and bolognese sauce.

The Mixgrill Lamb (above) at RM15.90 had grilled lamb, spaghetti, fries, black pepper sauce, and bolognese sauce.

The Tower Honeydew was under promotion at RM15. It was really tall and the height was equivalent to 3 litres of honeydew drink. It was just enough for 8 pax.

You can watch my insta reel of the food below.

Soru Station’s Humble Beginning

Soru Station comes from humble beginning of a food truck serving Bandar Sri Permaisuri area. They then expanded to a food court, serving almost 20,000 patrons per month. After planning for a year, they opened a new branch in Kota Damansara to serve even more customers after a very good demand at our food booth.

LAMBorghini

Itโ€™s been awhile since I blogged about something edible. Sheepishly, I did not know what to blog about. I had a tough time figuring out what to blog about. It took some time to digest this meaty information and details. I believe it’s going to be juicy and chewy.

Subject to authorโ€™s tastebuds

1. 6 2 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak

Going by its name, this restaurant specialises in grills and nasi lemaks. Nonetheless, its lamb chop is worth taking note. 6 2 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak is a corner lot in Aman Suria. It is directly opposite Lotus Curry House.

Despite facing stiff competition from other nearby Western food restaurants – Bettyโ€™s Midwest Restaurant, Kalamazoo Restaurant & Cafe and the newly opened Patty & Pie – 6 2 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak holds its own.

In addition to its lamb chop, its Apple Crumble dessert is also a MUST TRY. A mixture of soft and warm apple crumble and a cold vanilla ice cream crumbling in your mouth is something to salivate about. The stomach is at ease after the heavy digestion of the lamb chop.

2. Western Food, Restaurant Hup Soon

Unlike 6 2 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak, our second โ€œlamb chopโ€ spot is a hawker stall in a restaurant. The Western Food stall is situated IN Restaurant Hup Soon. Like 6 2 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak, Restaurant Hup Soon is a corner lot along Jalan SS3/29. The restaurant is located next to a Shell petrol station.

Going by its name – โ€œWestern Foodโ€ – this hawker stall specialises in all things, western food: fish & chips, chicken chop, lamb chop, etc.

In addition to its variety of tasty main courses, it also serves a scrumptious lamb stew soup. The lamb is so soft that when bitten, the meat tears apart slowly and gently. Different from the usual mushroom soups, this lamb stew soup brings a whiff of freshness.

3. Hanz Harvest & Cafe

Hanz is located in Damansara Jaya near KDU University College. It is a small cafe in the same row as Choy Kee Restaurant and Yu Yiee Restaurant, which are popular makan places frequented by KDU students.

The recommended dish is the lamb chop. Unlike other cafes (in mind), you are served NOT 1 but 2 lamb chops. Pretty generous, I would say.

Lamb Chop with Apple Mint sauce

In addition to the portion served, Hanz is also unique for its choice of sauce. You have the option of either Rosemary (below) or Apple mint (above) sauce. This is different from the usual mushroom, BBQ, and black pepper sauces. As you can see, even the chips served are different. Instead of serving french fries like other restaurants, Hanz replaces them with wedges.

Chicken Chop with Rosemary sauce

Given that the lamb chop is a set meal, soup is also included in the set. You have a choice of either pumpkin or mushroom soup. Especially the mushroom soup, the soup served is not what we would commonly expect – (Campbell) mushroom soup – the canned soup. Instead, the mushroom soup is the authentic and original wild mushroom soup.

Last but not least; save the best for the last

In conclusion, Hanz sets itself apart from 6 2 10 and the Western Food stall in terms of the main course. 6 2 10’s Apple Crumble is a MUST TRY dessert and the Western Food stall has scrumptious lamb stew soup.

If you have any recommendation(s), do leave them in the comments section below.
