Today, weโre going to jump not from hero to zero but from hero to eight.
Matcha Eight in Lalaport Bukit Bintang City Centre.
How to get to Matcha Eight
It is very convenient to get to Lalaport. Firstly, via public transport. Take the monorail, stop at the Hang Tuah station, and then walk down to the ground floor. Alternatively, ride the LRT on the Ampang or Sri Petaling lines and then get off at the Hang Tuah station. Then walk towards BBCC.
If youโre driving, there are multiple entrances to Lalaport’s basement parking. Thereโs one car park entrance along Jalan Huang Tuah and another along Jalan Pudu.
Matcha Eight
Matcha Eight is located on the ground floor of Lalaport. There is the air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned section of Lalaport. Where Matcha Eight is, is at the non-air-conditioned section: Gourmet Street.
Matcha Eight is a small outlet. Seating for dine-in is available just outside but itโs umbrella sheltered. Since itโs open air, if it rains then it can get uncomfortable and inconvenient.
MatchaMenu
It’s all things matcha.
You can choose your matcha to be in the form of beverage or dessert. Ice cream or cold brewed tea.
I was craving for some ice cream.
As of this post, there were only eight ice cream flavours to select from. Flavours are coolly called Lovesick Girl, Soul Mate, Maybe itโs Love, Matcha Me Tonight, Hocus Matcha-cus, Melodrama Queen, Hojilicious, and Ho Ho Hoji. Each flavour has different ranges of sencha, matcha, sweetness, and bitterness.
Different flavours have different prices. Prices ranged from the lowest at RM13.00 for like the Lovesick Girl, Soul Mate, and Maybe It’s Love to the highest at RM16.00 for the Hojilicious and Ho Ho Hoji.
It’s quite a complex mix of flavours but you do get to taste them, but up to 4 spoons! That says alot about the demand and curiosity for the ice creams.ย
Then once you’re done tasting, next is to select the base and the size. For the base, of course, the ice cream can be in a cup or cone. If you want your ice cream to be in a cone, then it’s an additional charge.
Then on to the size. If you want to eat your ice cream in a cone, then it’s a single-scoop ice cream only and no additional charges. However, if you want to eat your ice cream from a cup, then based on how many additional scoops, there’ll be additional charges on top. You can do a single, double, or triple scoop in a cup.
Finally, the last step. You can add toppings to give more texture and taste to your ice cream. For certain toppings in a cup, there’ll be additional charges.
So you’d like to bear in mind the additional charges when choosing your flavour, base, cup, and topping; as they can add on.
For me, it was so delicious, it was Hojilicious. I had a single scoop of hojilicious in a cup.

Getting around Ipoh is fairly simple; either you take a taxi, Grab, drive, or walk.
Continuing our journey for the day, our van driver chauffeured us from Restaurant Kam Wan Aneka Selera to Tong Sui Kai.
Tong Sui Kai
It is literally a stretch of roadside stalls under a long shack along Jalan Carrey. Eat by the road with cars driving by and looking for parking.
In a sense, itโs like a hawker centre, but itโs not like your typical hawker centre. You can only sit at the stall area where you ordered. No cross sitting allowed.
The tables are number coded to the corresponding stalls. The table that we sat at, focused on desserts and snacks.
We had ice kacang, ching poh leong, and other snacks for supper.

During our 3D2N trip in Ipoh, Tong Sui Kai was one of the 10 places we visited in 1 day. Watch YouTube below.
After dinner in Kota Damansara, why not some Kakigori and waffle for dessert? For us, after dinner at Soru Station, we headed over to MyKori Dessert Cafe Kota Damansara (Dataran Sunway).
According to their website and as of todayโs post, there are 88 MyKori Dessert Cafes in Malaysia.
How to get there
Anyway, back to MyKori Dessert Cafe Kota Damansara, if youโre driving and looking for parking, be prepared to go round looking for it. Like any other commercial district like SS2, Damansara Uptown – Kota Damansara is also notoriously known for lack of parking space.
Alternatively, if youโre taking the MRT, stop at the Surian MRT and walk 900 meters North from the station. It is about a 12 minutes walk from the MRT station.
MyKori Kota Damansara
The Kota Damansara branch of MyKori Dessert Cafe is on the first floor of a shop lot. As itโs not on the ground floor, you might miss it if you walk or drive by. The cafe is long, spacious, and brightly lit. So, even if youโre in a group of 8 or more people, there is enough space, comfortably for everybody.
Dessert
From their Signature Kakigori selection, we had the Mango Cheesecake Kakigori, Chocolate Tiramisu Kakigori, and Cookies & Cream with OREA Kakigori. In addition to the kakigories, we also had a 3 Scoops Ice Cream Buttermilk Waffle.
MyKoriโs Signature Kakigori are shaved ice desserts incorporating fresh fruits, ice cream as well as layers of flavour.

The Chocolate Tiramisu Kakigori (above) was made up of milk ice, tiramisu cake, chocolate crispy balls cocoa powder, shredded chocolate creme chantilly, and coffee syrup. Large was RM25, while mini was RM16.
The Cookies & Cream with OREA Kakigori (above) was made up of milk ice, oreo biscuits oreo crumbs, and chocolate sauce. Large was RM21, while mini was RM13.
The 3 Scoops Ice Cream Buttermilk Waffle (above) had a base price of RM20. You can add on syrup with an additional RM2 and upgrade your gelato from RM1 to RM3 for different gelato flavours.
For the choice of syrup, there were the Honey Maple Syrup, Salted Caramel, Chocolate Sauce, and Mango Puree. We went with the Chocolate Sauce.
Then for the gelato, with RM:
you can get a Mint Chocolate, Cookies & Cream, or Choco Almond Fudge gelato
you can get a Hazelnut, Summer Red, or Fruit Sorbet gelato
you can get a Pistachio, Frozen Yogurt, or Mango Passion Sorbet gelato
We had the vanilla, chocolate, and pistachio gelato.
I thought MyKori meant Malaysian-Korean dessert of some sort. However, MyKoriโs history tells a different story.
During his travels overseas, MyKoriโs founder discovered a unique Japanese pastry, a fish shaped snack, made of croissant with varied sweet and savoury fillings such as red bean, chocolate banana and cheese. He then made the necessary arrangements, including learning hands on how itโs made, securing the signature molds and ingredients that give the Taiyaki its unique shape and flavour and launching with authentic Japanese ranges and then further expanding them to suit local tastes.
Not content with just pastries, he then sought to make MyKori the epitome of the 21st century Japanese dessert house, expanding to include the signature toasts and shaved ice desserts (Kakigori) that incorporate fresh fruits, ice cream as well as layers of flavour. And to not leave out those that seek healthier options, thereโs also the Kenko Kakigori, a guiltless option that incorporates shaved ice, yoghurt / milk, fresh fruits as well as a variety of grains.
Lot 10 is located at a cross junction in Bukit Bintang. It is the intersection where Jalan Bukit Bintang and Jalan Sultan Ismail meet. Many cars wait at the traffic lights and cross the junction.
Furthermore, the Bukit Bintang MRT and Bukit Bintang Monorial are just outside Lot 10. Parking is not really an issue as customers can also park in Lot 10 or Sungei Wang Plaza, and walk to Lot 10.
If youโre coming from Lot 10 parking lot, take the escalator or lift from the 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th floor down to LG. But if youโre coming from the Bukit Bintang MRT or monorial, take the escalator or stairs from the ground floor down to LG. Matcha Hero is not hard to miss, as it is directly in front of the Hu Tong entrance in Lot 10.
McDonalds have their drive thrus. Touch N Go is literally touch and go at tolls. In Penang, weโve a eat and go cendol – Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul.
The famous Teochew chendul is easily recognisable by itโs pushcart and incredibly long queue. Being located along Lebuh Keng Kwee, a small road just off Jalan Penang, there are no tables and chairs to sit and eat. Youโve to stand by the roadside and eat, or tapau (take-away).
Queues are super long, but because it is fast moving, it wonโt take long to be your turn.

A timeless Malaysian dessert of shaved ice dessert with soft fresh pandan-flavoured palm flour noodles immersed in light coconut milk, sweetened by gula melaka and kidney beans thoroughly boiled in 4 hours.
A must try specialty for you to know why it’s become famous.
Especially during a hot day, it’s something to quench your thirst! Definitely will also cool you down in this hot, humid Malaysian weather.
From Penang to the Klang Valley
Founded in 1936 and with more than 80 years of history, Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul has come a long way. Undeniably, it is one of the popular cendol places even with franchises throughout Klang Valley.
For the non-Penangites, you can still indulge in the famous cendol in the franchises in the Klang Valley in Selangor, Malaysia. Of course, nothing beats the original. When in Penang, why not head directly to THE Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul itself in Lebuh Keng Kwee.
Damansara Uptown is no stranger as the place to hang out, eat, and have desserts. If after a plate of Damansara Uptown Hokkien Mee or a meal, and some jalan-jalan in Starling Mall; why not have dessert at Shugatori. Aptly named as SHUGATORI: THE DESSERT CAFE.
How to Get to Shugatori
Shugatori is located along Jalan SS 21/1a in Damansara Utama. It is not hard to miss as it is facing the main road – Jalan SS21/1. If you’re turning in from the SPRINT highway, it is on your right.
Parking may be a challenge during the day and night, as the parking spots tend to be filled with cars by office workers and people who frequent there.
Due to the limited street parking, you can park at Starling Mall or at Uptown 7 (elevated parking). Then walk across to Shugatori.
